The Peak Agency’s primary focus has always been booking talent for work throughout Iowa and the Midwest. However, opportunities can be limited for certain age groups and talent types in our market. As a result, many new and experienced models and actors look for additional ways to gain experience, build their resumes, and expand their opportunities.
For over 38 years now, we've worked as a mother agent and have helped hundreds of aspiring models and actors participate in industry showcases such as IMTA. These experiences have helped talent become more marketable locally, and some participants have secured representation in markets outside Iowa and begun working professionally in the industry.
We do this through relationships our team has developed over decades in the industry, as well as through showcases such as IMTA, which members of our team have attended since 1988.
If you are serious about pursuing modeling or acting—or simply want a professional, structured way to gain experience and exposure—IMTA could provide valuable opportunities to learn, make connections, and be evaluated by industry professionals.
These showcases allow models, actors, singers, songwriters, and dancers to compete and perform in front of agents, talent managers, casting professionals, and other industry representatives from around the world. These professionals attend to scout, evaluate, and potentially sign aspiring talent.
Twice a year IMTA invites a select list of agents, managers, and casting directors to New York and Los Angeles for the opportunity to look at, evaluate, and potentially sign aspiring models and actors. For those who have never attended a modeling and talent convention such as IMTA, it is a phenomenal experience few forget. When not competing, participants can attend numerous workshops and educational seminars taught by industry insiders and professionals. What's the goal of all this high-energy activity and why should anyone interested in this industry attend an IMTA convention? The reason most often given by past participants is that they are stronger as a person for having participated. They also like having the opportunities to learn from the pros, getting a taste of the business they aspire to join, and acquiring experience and self-confidence.
We attend IMTA every January in Los Angeles and every July in New York City. We take a small, carefully selected group of aspiring talent to each showcase. This experience allows participants to explore their potential while gaining valuable knowledge, training, exposure, and firsthand industry experience. Participants do not need to be represented by The Peak Agency to attend. In fact, approximately 90% of the people we take have little or no previous experience. We also provide training at The Peak Agency before each convention.
Please note: You do not need to attend a convention or showcase to be considered for representation by The Peak Agency or to pursue a career in the industry. They are simply additional opportunities for aspiring models and actors—similar to studying acting in college, attending a theater camp, taking professional workshops, or traveling to compete in dance, singing, or athletics.
